You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?
A quote from Carl Jung
I am a former soldier and police detective. Investigation Manager ( Fraud, public sector corruption, medi-fraud), Executive and Senior Manager, Transport Regulation. My answer? A quote from Jung.
I had the perfect oneโnot one of his famous lines, but something that hit me dead center. It resonated so much that I put it right at the very start of my autobiographyโbefore the prologue, before anything else.
But I lost that manuscript when my phone was stolen in December. Along with it, I lost my Gmail account, which took down my two-factor authentication and locked me out of everythingโChatGPT, my writing, all of it. Recovering a Google account thatโs been shut down isnโt easy, and Iโm still stuck in that process.
The worst part? I canโt remember the quote. It was only six words, but at the time, it perfectly captured what I was trying to say. Now, itโs just out of reachโlike the manuscript itself.
